  5.  1. Follow the directions in 'readme.now' AFTER you have completed the
  6.     instructions which follow for upgrading to version 3.8

  10.                    Feathernet BBS Version 3.8 UPGRADE Instructions

  12.  1. Replace the following files:
  13.     fnet.exe
  14.     fnchk.exe
  15.     fncfg.exe
  16.     fnfiler.exe
  17.     fnetsm.exe
  18.     fnecho.exe
  19.  
  20.  2. Backup your OLD chat.def file (locatyed in the MAIN BBS directory) before
  21.     proceding.  Use the dos command: "copy chat.def chat2.def"
  22.  
  23.     Run the 'DEFAULT.EXE' file ONCE from the MAIN BBS directory.  This modifies
  24.     the 'chat.def' file for version 3.8.  
  25.  
  26.         This new code allows you to either search the actual dos directories
  27.         specified in the 'dirdata' file or the DIRxx files (file description
  28.         files).
  29.  
  30.         Make a backup of the OLD dirdata file before you convert the file to
  31.         the new format. Noiw make a backup of the NEW 'dirdata' file for use
  32.         if you run fncfg.exe.
  33.  
  34.         Now run 'dcvt.exe' from each node directory. (Where the 'dirdata'
  35.         file resides). This will convert your dirdata file to the
  36.         new format required by version 3.38.
  37.         
  38.         That is all that is needed for conversion from version 3.37 to
  39.         version 3.38 or newer.

  44.  1. Replace the following files:

  55.  1. This is a Maintenance release to change the version number due to
  56.     several enhancements and bug fixes to version 3.5.

  58.  2. Replace these .exe files to update your system:
  59.     fnet.exe
  60.     fnchk.exe
  61.     fncfg.exe
  62.     fnfiler.exe
  63.     fnetsm.exe
  64.  
  65.  3. This completes the upgrade to version 3.6

  71.  1. Modify the 'sr.bat' file as follows:

  73.     a. Insert a line immediately after the line reading "fnet %1 %2"
  74.        which says "if errorlevel 2 goto end3".
  75.        There should still be a line after the one just inserted which reads
  76.        "if errorlevel 2 goto end2".

  78.        An excerpt from a changed 'sr.bat' file reads:

  82.         if errorlevel 1 goto end2

  84.     b.  Now add one line to the end of the 'sr.bat' file which reads:

  88.  2. Ensure you replace the OLD 'fnettext' file with the one in the 'fn35_1'
  89.     archive file.

  91.  3. Replace the old 'fnet.scr' file with the one in the 'fn35_1' archive.

  93.  4. Replace the old 'fncfg.hlp' file with the one in the 'fn35_1' archive.

  95.  5  Replace the old 'fncfg.ndx' file with the one in the 'fn35_1' archive.

  97.  6. This completes the upgrade to Feathernet version 3.5 dated 02-21-90.
